Ingrid L. Cockhren graduated from Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College with a Master of Education in child studies specializing in minority and impoverished children. Mrs. Cockhren is a consultant, facilitator, trainer, coach, and author. Her experience is varied and ranges from juvenile justice, family counseling, early childhood education, and higher education. Mrs. Cockhren is an adjunct psychology professor specializing in Black psychology, collective and historical trauma, child development, and lifespan developmental psychology. She is currently the CEO of PACEs Connection, a social network dedicated to raising awareness of adverse childhood experiences.
A strategic partner and expert advisor to Pathways to Resilience, Ingrid assists state government agencies, community-based initiatives, hospitals, colleges, non-profits, and other institutions in becoming trauma-informed and healing-centered. Cockhren specializes in a big-picture, systems approach to mitigating and preventing trauma and promoting healing in a culturally responsive manner. Her work centers on the connection between institutional racism, historical trauma, health equity, and social determinants of health. In addition, Ingrid is an expert in strategic planning, program development, collective impact, community engagement, community mobilization, and coalition-building.
Ingrid Cockhren is an advocate for Black mothers and children and a community change agent. She sits on several boards for organizations that empower and heal women, children, and communities. A native of Clarksville, Tennessee, she currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee, with her husband, Jurnell Cockhren, founder of Civic Hacker, a software development consulting agency, and their three children.
